Yellow Gold & White Gold

At Chintamanis, most of our jewellery is crafted in 24 karat gold

This brilliant yellow metal, because of its natural beauty and lustre, has been an intricate part of human culture since ages. It is the oldest precious metal known to mankind. All across the world, there is no human civilization that doesn’t devour gold thus equating it with wealth, prosperity and beauty.
Unlike other metals that have a silvery-gray colour, gold is the only metal to have yellow colour. Chemically unaffected by air, moisture and most corrosive agents, gold retains its lustre for a very long time. Gold’s excellent malleability & ductility make it an ideal metal to work with.

The purity of gold is measured in ‘karats’ (also spelled as ‘carats’). While pure gold measures 24 karats, it is usually alloyed with metals such as copper, silver & palladium to allow lower purity ratings of 22 karats and 18 karats. Besides altering the gold’s hardness and melting points, the alloy metals are also added to render desirable colour. While palladium gives gold the whitish tinge, copper lends it a reddish tone.
